WHAT DOES IT

MEAN TO BE

ENTREPRENEURIAL?

It is the ability and tendency of learners to create goals for themselves and take specific actions to achieve them. In order to be entrepreneurial, increasing students’ agency is essential.

Enablinging agency in a student requires an environment which motivates one to learn and fulfill their dream. Udhyam Shiksha’s curriculum aims to create this environment with the following learning principles in place, towards learning outcomes described below.

OUR WORK IS

OPEN SOURCE

At Udhyam, we believe in the spirit of growing through collaborations. Our curriculum is open to anyone interested to use and improve on it while collaborating with us. We will be closer to reaching our goal of making India more entrepreneurial when we work together.

MONITORING

& EVALUATION

We believe the most accurate and reliable way to understand shifts in the way learners think is through actually observing their behaviour, and are currently designing for this at scale

OUR PROCESS

We use the following psychometric tools to understand learner shifts and are constantly looking for ways to get better at measurement.

  • The Self-Efficacy Formative Questionnaire measures self-belief
  • The CASE (Cognitive Autonomy and Self-Evaluation) Inventory measures independent thinking
  • The Grit Scale measures grit
  • The SRIS (Self-Reflection & Insight Scale) measures self-awareness

We also collect qualitative data from our alumni (learners who have finished the Shiksha program), to understand their progress on their journey towards agency.

APPROACH TO

FACILITATION

We collect evidence directly from learners, facilitators, and implementers to validate our hypotheses and to learn.

This data collection is guided by key inputs that we have identified for developing these mindsets and skills and fall broadly into three categories:

  • Learner habits (way of thinking)
  • Facilitator habits in the classroom
  • Implementation and operations

We capture data aligned to these categories consistently during the program and unpack our learnings through collective de-briefs.

Our current understanding of what key facilitator habits can enable shifts in learner mindsets and skills is here.
